Scanning commences at Tema port

Following the formal opening of the ultra-modern $1.5 billion USD new MPS container port in Tema, Ghana on 28 June 2019, the first vessel has now arrived.

Westminster, together with local partner Scanport, are undertaking the technical screening operations of all containers passing through the port. As a result of careful planning and trials, operations have commenced smoothly and successfully.

Container volumes are expected to grow over time as the port swings into full operation and the port expansion continues, from the current annual capacity of 1 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) to 3.7 million TEUs.

The scanning operations and associated services are now operational 24/7 and will generate several hundred new jobs in Ghana.
